
Oral immunotherapy is coming Jan 2023
Rural Allergy Group will soon be offering oral immunotherapy to patients under the age of 18years.
If you are interested, please follow the following steps:
1. Fill in the questionnaire link here
2. Send through a referral from your GP or medical practitioner to see us.
3. We will have an initial appointment to further assess suitability for the program
4. If assessed to be suitable, we will book you in to commence oral immunotherapy

What foods will you be offering oral immunotherapy for?

We will be offering oral immunotherapy for peanut, egg, cow's milk, walnut and cashew initially with the hope of expanding foods in the near future.

What if my child has multiple allergies?
-
We can only offer one food at a time at this stage. Once more evidence is available on the safety of multiple food immunotherapy in the outpatient setting we will look to introduce.

Are you qualified to offer this service?

Yes, Sigrid Pitkin will be supervising all clinics and performing the screening visits. Sigrid has 8 years experience working on oral immunotherapy clinical trials at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.

What if my child has had anaphylaxis?
-
Anaphylaxis in itself is not an exclusion criteria for treatment. In the screening visit, we will go over all previous reactions to ensure your child can receive the treatment safely.

Is oral immunotherapy safe?

Any treatment comes with risk. All of the risks and benefits will be explained in the consent form and screening visit.
